Affordable alfresco dining with million dollar views

Affordable alfresco dining with million dollar views
03/12/2016 -

After the long, cold winter there's a sign that summer is finally on the way. Starting on 3rd December until
March 2017 the South Beach Sunset Markets will reopen on Saturday evenings from 5pm to 9pm.
This family and dog-friendly event was a big hit last year so make sure you don't miss out this season.
Food stalls will be set up on the grass to the north of the South Beach kiosk in Fremantle. You can eat at the tables and chairs set up in the middle of the stalls, or sit on the grass or the beach and watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean. This is a great opportunity to sample a variety of cuisines from around the world together with free entertainment from local acts. Free parking is available, but judging by the crowds last year you might be better off to cycle or catch the free CAT bus.

If you don't want to buy food from the vans you could bring a picnic and enjoy the relaxed vibe by the beach. Either way, this is a great option for an affordable alfresco meal with million dollar views as you watch the sun set on another day in paradise.

Duyfken Exhibition

 Duyfken Exhibition
From now until 02nd April 2017
At Elizabeth Quay

How do you get a three masted sailing ship under The Narrows Bridge? The tallest mast sits 80 feet above the deck of the ship. The answer? Have a crane remove the masts, motor the ship under the bridge and then moor a barge with a 30 ton crane next to the Duyfken and then lift the masts back in.
The process was carried out in late November and the Duyfken finally moored at what will be its summer home for the next three years at Elizabeth Quay. It was a tight fit getting the Duyfken under The Narrows. Even with the masts removed there was only a one metre clearance between the ship and the bridge.
